Crossing Mountains and Seas: FAW Jiefang Conveys Brand Warmth Through Public Welfare

Against the backdrop of the global ESG governance trend and advancing regional cooperation, Chinese enterprises’ overseas expansion has evolved from mere product export to value co-creation and social responsibility integration. As a leading Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer, since establishing its footprint in Southeast Asia, FAW Jiefang has adhered to the development philosophy of "Rooting in Local Communities and Giving Back to Society", integrating business operations with corporate social responsibility. Through regular public welfare initiatives, the company honors its commitment to localized development. In 2026, FAW Jiefang rolled out a series of localized public welfare programs to empower youth education in Vietnam and the Philippines, delivering tangible and heartfelt corporate commitment to boost livelihood and educational development across Southeast Asia.

In April, FAW Jiefang’s Vietnam Office partnered with local distributors to launch a youth care program at SOS Children’s Village Hanoi. Part of an international child welfare initiative, SOS Children’s Village Hanoi provides long-term shelter and developmental support for Vietnamese orphans, abandoned children and disadvantaged youngsters without family guardianship.

In May, FAW Jiefang Philippines, together with its local distributors, delivered rural education support at Limbon-Limbon Elementary School in Binangonan, Rizal Province. Having offered grassroots education for nearly five decades, the school provides free basic education for children from low-income rural households, greatly facilitating local universal education.

To avoid perfunctory charity and ensure targeted support, ahead of both events, the project team held in-depth consultations with local distributors and institution administrators to fully identify shortages of daily necessities, academic needs and emotional requirements of the children, before rolling out a dual-support plan featuring material donations paired with caring companionship.

For material support, supplies were tailored to the actual needs of beneficiaries in respective regions. At SOS Children’s Village Hanoi in Vietnam, the team donated daily necessities including rice, flour, milk, cooking oil, instant noodles and fruit hampers, alongside customized stationery for children aged 6 to 12 to facilitate their schooling. At Limbon-Limbon Elementary School in the Philippines, donations covered campus provisions such as rice, pasta and hygiene kits, plus schoolbags, notebooks, pencils and stationery gift sets. Food hampers and first-aid kits were also presented to the school’s principal and teaching staff as a token of appreciation for frontline educators.

Beyond material handouts, diverse interactive fun activities were organized in both locations, enabling children to unwind and enjoy themselves amid engaging interactions.

As a Chinese enterprise with long-term presence in Southeast Asia, while supplying premium products and services to local markets, FAW Jiefang consistently builds warm bonds between enterprises, governments and local communities via public welfare. These two ESG-focused charity drives exemplify FAW Jiefang’s localized social responsibility practices and stand as a vivid testament to Chinese enterprises advancing global sustainable development with humanistic care. In 2026, FAW Jiefang plans to replicate this proven charity model across Latin America, Southeast Africa, Northwest Africa, Central Asia and other regional markets to build an expansive cross-border public welfare network.

Moving forward, FAW Jiefang will keep focusing on local livelihood improvement and educational development. By launching sustained public welfare programs alongside partners and social stakeholders, the company will rally more participants to care for disadvantaged children and grassroots education, continuously fuel local socioeconomic progress, and uphold its long-term commitment to localized responsible development.
